FAQ + Help/Suggestion Box

Can I throw in a Wishing Piece for another shiny den while I have another one going?

If it's in the same game and on the same Nintendo Switch Online account, the answer is no. The reason is that only one thrown Wishing Piece den can exist at a time, so throwing another one in will make your previous one despawn. There's no way to get them back as each time a wishing piece beam has loaded, your game has saved.

However, you can host another shiny den on the same switch but a different game cartridge or Nintendo Switch Account - or both! As stated before, the way frames are registered on your game are largely dependent when your game is open, but if you have the game open on a different account, or a different game open on the same account (or a different game open on a different account), if you skip frames on that other game/account, they won't affect your shiny frame on your main account.

So if you have both Sword and Shield but only one NSO account - you still have 2 shiny dens you can do at a time. If you have just one game but 3 NSO accounts, that's 3 shiny dens you can hold onto at a time. If you have Sword and Shield and 3 NSO accounts to use, that's 6 whole shiny dens! Just be sure to keep track of what game/account has what, and always check your den before saving so you don't hardlock.

Is there a way to airplane on docked mode, or do I have to do it in handheld mode?

There is no way of airplaning in docked mode. A lot of shiny denning is only capable in handheld mode - or at least heavily advised, like with date skipping.

However, if you're playing docked you can put your Switch to sleep at the same time you would airplane, and it has the same effect. This is slightly slower though, as you'll have to wake your Switch back up.

Can I catch the shiny Pokemon myself but still host for others later?

It depends on your intentions with this - you can't catch the shiny Pokemon and keep it while hosting for others later. However, as long as you have autosave off, you are capable of catching the shiny Pokemon to check its IVs/ability/nature. When you're done with what you need with that Pokemon, make sure you don't save and reset your game so that your beam is back up. You've lost the Pokemon for now, but you can keep hosting.

People tend to like to end their hosting by catching the Pokemon they wanted the most from their shiny den. So whenever you're ready to close up your shiny den, that's when you can catch it and save.

I got my shiny frame, but it's (some number of frames more than 5000 at the least, often over 10,000). What do I do?

Yikes! That might be too much for a reasonable person. What you can do is get rid of that beam by going into the den, defeating the Pokemon, and catching it (or not catching it, it doesn't matter.) Then throw in a new Wishing Piece and get the seed for that one. Since the Wishing Piece is different - and hereby the beam - the seed will be different, since seed is dependent on the beam/Wishing Piece, not the den itself.

Can I join other raids/trade while hosting a shiny den?

You sure can! You do need to keep in mind though that when you do these things, especially when trading, you need to make sure you're the furthest distance away from your shiny. Don't do other raids, or trade with other people, when you're softlocked on a shiny or have started invite skipping to see your new shiny. If I plan on doing raids or trading with other people, what I do as insurance is to close my game and then open it back up and then do these things. This is only as security to myself so I know that I'm doing them as far away from my shiny frame as possible.

When I'm frameskipping, do I need to be connected to the internet via Y-comm?

Nope. This goes for both Vs. skip and Y-comm skip.

Dear seismitoad,
Wow, your guide is impressive and logical.
I confess, I have not yet hosted a Den, however your guide gives me the confidence to believe I might be able to do so.
I just wanted to say Thank You. This is a great piece of work for the community.
If I can ever help, please let me know.

I guess one question, if the Dudu bots are so popular, why not have 6 of them (or multiples there of) instead of 3?

Respectfully, S
